SECTION 4. FIRST AID MEASURES
Eyes: In case of contact with eyes, flush with copious amounts of water for at least 15 minutes. Assure
adequate flushing by separating the eyelids with fingers. Call a physician.
Skin: Immediately remove contaminated clothing, and any extraneous chemical, if possible to do so
without delay. Initiate and maintain gentle and continuous irrigation until the patient receives medical
care. If medical care is not promptly available, continue to irrigate for one hour. Cover wound with
sterile dressing.
Ingestion: If a person vomits when lying on his back, place him in the recovery position. Never give
anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Prevent aspiration of vomit. Turn victim's head to the
side.
Inhalation: If breathing has stopped or is labored, give assisted respirations. Supplemental oxygen
may be indicated. If the heart has stopped, trained personnel should begin cardiopulmonary
resuscitation immediately. Move to fresh air.
SECTION 5. FIREFIGHTING MEASURES
Suitable Extinguishing Media:
Suitable: Carbon dioxide, dry chemical powder, or appropriate foam.
Unsuitable: Do not use water.
Products of Combustion: amine, CO, CO2, NOx
, Tantalum oxide
Special Protective Equipment for Fire-Fighters: Wear self contained breathing apparatus and
protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes.
Specific Hazard(s): Water reactive material. Emits toxic fumes under fire conditions. Combustible
liquid.
Further Information: Use water spray to cool unopened containers.
Flash Point: Not available.
Flammable Limits: Not available.
Auto-Ignition Temperature: Not available.
Flammability: Not available.
SECTION 6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Spill: Evacuate area. Shut off all sources of ignition.
Personal Precautions: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus, rubber boots, and heavy rubber
gloves.
Environmental Precautions: Prevent spilled product from entering streams or drinking water supplies.
Local authorities should be advised if significant spillages cannot be contained. Construct a dike to
prevent spreading. Shut off or remove all ignition sources.
Methods for Cleaning up: Cover with dry lime or soda ash, pick up, keep in a closed container, and
hold for waste disposal. Ventilate area and wash spill site after material pickup is complete.
SECTION 7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
Handling
User Exposure: Do not breathe vapor. Do not get in eyes, on skin, on clothing. Avoid prolonged or
repeated exposure.
Storage
Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. To avoid ignition of vapors by
static electricity discharge, all metal parts of the equipment must be grounded. Keep away from heat
and sources of ignition. Keep in a dry, cool place. Keep away from Oxidizers. Store in an area suitable
for water reactive materials. Minimize exposure to air. Exposure may cause material to degrade. Store
under a nitrogen atmosphere.
SECTION 8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION
Engineering Controls
Safety shower and eye bath. Use only in a chemical fume hood.
Personal Protective Equipment
Respiratory: Use respirators and components tested and approved under appropriate government
standards such as NIOSH (US) or CEN (EU). Where risk assessment shows air-purifying respirators are
appropriate use a full-face respirator with multi-purpose combination (US) or type ABEK (EN 14387)
respirator cartridges as a backup to engineering controls. If the respirator is the sole means of
protection, use a full-face supplied air respirator.
Hand: Compatible chemical-resistant gloves.
Eye: Chemical safety goggles.
Skin and Body: Impervious clothing. Full rubber suit (rain gear). Rubber or plastic boots. Long sleeve
shirts and trousers without cuffs. Slicker Suit.
Environmental exposure controls: Prevent spilled product from entering streams or drinking water supplies. Local authorities should be
advised if significant spillages cannot be contained. Construct a dike to prevent spreading. Shut off or
remove all ignition sources.
Special instructions for protection and hygiene: Provide readily accessible eye wash stations and safety showers. Wash at the end of each workshift
and before eating, smoking or using the toilet.
