About Lanthanum Specimen

Lanthanum SpecimenAmerican Elements provides pure Lanthanum Specimen for applications where purity and accuracy are paramount. Lanthanum specimen is appropriate for small scale testing. American Elements specializes in producing irregular shaped Lanthanum Specimen with the highest possible density density and smallest possible average grain sizes for use in Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) and Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) processes including Thermal and Electron Beam (E-Beam) Evaporation, Low Temperature Organic Evaporation, Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD), Metallic-Organic and Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD). Lanthanum specimen is a collection of small pieces of highly pure Lanthanum. Lanthanum metal is predominantly used in the production of mischmetal and steel additives but is also important in the production of hydrogen storage alloys for nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries. Materials are produced using crystallization, solid state and other ultra high purification processes such as sublimation. American Elements specializes in producing custom compositions for commercial and research applications and for new proprietary technologies. American Elements also casts any of the rare earth metals and most other advanced materials into rod, bar, or plate form, as well as other machined shapes and through other processes such as nanoparticles and in the form of solutions and organometallics. American Elements produces to many standard grades when applicable, including Mil Spec (military grade); ACS, Reagent and Technical Grade; Food, Agricultural and Pharmaceutical Grade; Optical Grade, USP and EP/BP (European Pharmacopoeia/British Pharmacopoeia) and follows applicable ASTM testing standards. Typical and custom packaging is available. We also produce Lanthanum as rod, ingot, powder, pellets, disc, granules, wire, and in compound forms, such as oxide. Other shapes are available by request. Lanthanum specimens are useful in laboratory and research applications.

The lanthanum atom has a radius of 187 pm and a Van der Waals radius of 240 pm. Lanthanum was first discovered by Carl Mosander in 1838. In its elemental form, lanthanum has a silvery white appearance.Elemental Lanthanum It is a soft, malleable, and ductile metal that oxidizes easily in air. Lanthanum is the first element in the rare earth or lanthanide series. It is the model for all the other trivalent rare earths and it is the second most abundant of the rare earths after cerium. Lanthanum is found in minerals such as monazite and bastnasite. The name lanthanum originates from the Greek word Lanthaneia, which means 'to lie hidden'.
